Summary
Mingi rubs his fingertips against the bare skin of his belly, right over the waistband of his sweats. His body is aching, his biology absolutely bursting to provide him with the tools to calm the pack down, to keep them warm, fucked and fed. The lactation thing is new, usually the last thing to settle in an experienced Beta, and, fuck, Mingi doesn’t feel like an experienced Beta even if his body seems to think that he is. So he’s unused to it, unused to the feeling, and if he could talk to his body he would ask it to calm down. Yunho doesn’t want the milk anyway, having shied away every time any of the others (usually Wooyoung, or Seonghwa) hike Mingi’s shirt up to take a nipple into their mouth.
With a sigh, Mingi settles a foot on the duvet to hike himself further up against Yunho’s bedframe. When he’s done, he stretches up, cracks his neck, whines when the swell of his tits reminds him of its existence. He rubs a hand over his left tit, grimacing in pain as the swollen flesh dips underneath his touch.

When the spaceship Destiny gains two crewmembers, it’s natural that Mingi, as the technical maintenance officer, takes the new android under his wing and starts giving him jobs around the ship. He’s not quite sure what model ‘Yeosang’ is, but he’s clearly very advanced, with a high-quality humanoid body, a large database of information, and high enough artificial intelligence to hold full conversations, even if he’s still a little stilted and awkward sometimes. He almost makes a convincing human. Too convincing, in fact – before long, Mingi realises with panic that he’s starting to catch feelings for a computer who can’t possibly reciprocate them.
Meanwhile, Kang Yeosang, regular human with a lot of random knowledge, a good brain for maths, and a tendency to stare blankly into space, is enjoying all their time spent in the engine room together, and quietly hoping his crush on Mingi might just be mutual.

The priest’s robes flutter slightly with every step. They’re black on the outside, but flash white underneath when he walks, like a shadow pretending to be holy. His shoes are black, too—polished, quiet. They don’t scuff or scrape like Mingi’s used to hearing. Everything about the priest is silent, deliberate, suffocating.
Everyone he passes walks in lines or pairs, heads low, voices low. Their uniforms are stiff and identical, like their spirits have been wrung out of them and replaced with something the church finds more manageable. Mingi wonders how long that takes. How many weeks it’ll be before he starts moving like that too.
Or
Mingi’s parents send him to a religious boarding school where he must learn the rules to survive, but it seems there are more than one set of rules he must learn. His roommates are doing their best to bring him to their side.

He's just counting the seconds until he can be in his room again with the comfort of his worksheets, his grades being the one thing he has going for him, when the neighbor lady gasps and says in an excitement only mothers can share, “My boy is shy, too! Hold on, just wait right here!” And then she’s yelling a name up the stairs until Yeosang hears a rhythmic thunk, thunk, thunk of footsteps and a boy creeps into his view. He’s all kinds of interesting; a baggy shirt with a faded band design he can’t recognize, long, long, twiggy legs and long, long, twiggy arms, and a face with all the angles and edges that people would stereotype as being rude or scary. When he meets Yeosang’s eyes from across the threshold, it feels like he’s looking in a mirror.
That’s how he meets Mingi, the only kid who has ever seen past the surface.
Or: Yeosang thought that once Mingi had moved and left him when they were teens, it would be the last he'd ever see of him. He should've known they would have followed each other beyond the grave.

Yunho's hands go slack on his phone. Seonghwa's tinny, far-away voice rings from the phone speakers, but he can't hear it – too busy almost tossing up the breakfast he hasn't eaten.
