    Cas is standing there, but he's covered in goo. He's in no pain. He's not suffering. He's still smiling like they were at the beach they never got to go to. And all Dean can think about is NO.

    Suddenly the dungeon has a window, and horrible red wallpaper. He looks around in confusion, and it slowly dawns on him that he ain't in Kansas anymore, Toto.

    He doesn't have time to react to that revelation, because there's the sound of a gun's safety clicking off, and then he's face to face with 29 year old him.

    OR: Dean travels back in time to when he first met Cas whilst trying to save him from the Empty, and maybe has to come face to face with the fact that Cas's confession isn't exactly one sided

    Family Isn't Always Blood by

    It was a simple school field trip to Stark Industries Tower (also known as the home of the Avengers, not to be confused with the workplace of the Avengers, that’s different). Sure it’s to what is basically Peter’s second home but in Manhattan, but still. It should be fine. I mean, how much trouble can a field trip really cause?

    It’s incredible, the butterfly effect. For example, a school trip to SI. Nothing note, you would say, that happens a lot. Oh, but this trip is the butterfly that triggers all the events of this tale. Watch, as a lowly field trip creates the baseline for events that prove the lovely line of “blood of the covenant is thicker than water of the womb”, also known as “family isn’t always blood”. And for that family, blood will be shed.

    Construction: currently on hiatus for mental health, am building up buffer chapters so hopefully I'll be back soon but until then I'm slowly editing past chapters and marking them with a 'EDIT' in the author note (I wrote most of this over a year ago if you can believe it!)
