Chapter Text
Bodies lay strewn across the pass.
They had been crushed. Dismembered. Eviscerated. Disemboweled. Burned. Shredded. Completely and utterly slaughtered.
Roses were already growing from the corpses, the blood sinking into the ground proving fertile soil for them to blossom. In a matter of days, if not hours, there would be nothing left but a beautiful field of blood-red and bone-white flowers, their sweet scent already beginning to overtake the stench of rotting flesh, blood, and spilled bowels.
A towering, colossal figure loomed over the dead, its pristine white armor stained red with blood. The armor shimmered, and then dissolved into white flower petals, blowing away in the wind and leaving a much smaller figure behind.
One who was no less a colossus.
Regarding the growing flowers and dead bodies with a dispassionate look, not a shred of pity or remorse in her silver eyes. Flicking the blood off her blade, she sheathed it and turned away, her cloak billowing behind her as she turned and walked away.
Carrion, staring at her from a nearby shadow, knew she would follow her anywhere. No, she MUST.
Was this what love was?
