Head Nurse's POV (Current Day in the Animal Hospital Universe)
[As with all my stories, none of this writing is final and it is subject to change frequently!]
The Head Nurse's hands moved with efficient practice as she delicately sliced a sleeping patient's upper chest open with a scalpel. She used her medium blue latex gloves to attentively peel back their cyan blue fur and reveal the problem inside: an infected lung, yuck. She muttered an irritated comment behind her light blue nurse mask and slowly poked the patient's wrist, allowing the IV drops to flow. Anise lifted a replacement lung up on the surgery table, then maneuvered it between the patient's ribcage and settled it comfortably between their ribs and other lung. That should do. They'll live.
She thoroughly placed a few antibiotic pills in the patient's mouth and cautiously trickled water from a full glass cup. The patient, though asleep, swallowed the antibiotics pills, thankfully. That made Anise's job three times easier. She swiped a few thick bandages off the nearest counter, stitched up the patient's upper chest, and expertly maneuvered the bandages around the patient's body. She reexamined the snoozing patient, then considered her job complete. Thank god I'm done here... I can't take this shit for another day.
The TV screen attached to the middle of the surgery room's wall buzzed with a brief 'Surgery was successful!' in pixelated white text before fading away, and the television screen went dark.
