The kind of street-built muscle that you would only find in a bare-knuckle boxer or brawler, and as she smiled, Theo noticed the jagged line of a split lip.
“Uh.” Theo reached for the glass of whisky but somehow punched it, sending it spinning. Shit, she thought, averting her gaze.
The Tiefling caught the glass before it toppled off the bar. "Hey, I'm Karlach."
A/N
Drowned is a Baldur's Gate 3 and Tav / Karlach romance, told in the style of ONE DAY (the book by David Nicholls) which takes place on the same day across several years.
It explores the idea that the fates of our favourite pack of misfits/heroes from Baldur's Gate have been bound for much longer than just the BG3 story, and their paths crossed long before that. It'll feature canon prequel events like The Cult of the Dragon and Gortash's rise to power.
It'll span 8 years from 1485 DR to 1493 DR (the year after the Netherbrain was destroyed). Also, Bard Tav!

Astarion's swirling thoughts were interrupted abruptly as they passed through a gate; they had moved into a shadier part of the market and his escort's grip had tightened less-than-protectively on his arm. Shit.
The vampire's eyes searched his face, a cold chill of fear running through him at what he found. Dumb though he was, the man knew something.

Summary
In the aftermath of the defeat of the Netherbrain, Astarion copes with the tragedy of losing his Bhaalspawn lover, who had sacrificed themselves to become a mind flayer, and ended their life after.
Astarion does this by writing his beloved a few short letters throughout the following months. In these letters, he shares the ups and downs of his new life as a vampire spawn and recovering from the final battle. He also shares his immense grief for the love he had. -
