Summary
I got nothing. I was inspired by a tiktok post that asked someone to write something like this. I hope that i captured their desire at least somewhat. And as always I refer to my trusty excerpt as I can't write a summary to save my life.
Excerpt:
“W-wass ‘rong” Buck stumbles over his words, exhausted. His hair is bed messy, sandy locks tossed in wild directions.
“You almost fucking died.” Eddie says.
He begins to cry.
It happens somewhere between the words leaving his mouth and his understanding of their gravity. He says them over and over again brokenly. Like now that the dam has broken there’s no stopping its release.
Buck moves close to Eddie and cups his face in his hands.
“Eddie, Eddie, Ed. Hey, look at me,” and he slips one hand under Eddie’s chin to turn his face towards him. “But I didn’t. I didn’t honey. I'm right here.”"

Summary
If you stop to think about it, a tsunami really happens in three parts. The wave draws back, like you draw your fist back before a punch, then the fist extends, the wave rushes out onto shore and chases people inland. Then it flows back out to sea, like it was never there at all. The tsunami could have gone so differently, but in all the ways it could have gone, Eddie feels terror grip his chest and watches, with his eyes forced open, as the people he loves get hurt again and again and again.

“Buck should have died.
That was his first thought as he landed in water instead of flames and rubble, Eddie’s screams fading out as Buck fell into a pool hard enough to hit the bottom.
Buck hadn’t closed his eyes, he hadn’t thought to hold his breath, convinced he was about to die from a six floor drop, not land in a pool in the building’s basement, in the one tiny section that hadn’t yet been filled with pieces of the hotel crumbling around them.
Buck inhaled some of the ashy water as his body spurred him into motion, evidently getting over the certainty of his death before Buck consciously had as he swam back up on instinct. He dizzily took stock of where he’d ended up, ears not quite ringing enough to cover up the blood-chilling sound of Eddie’s pained cries from somewhere far above him where he thought Buck was dead.”

Buck's teary eyes widen and he lifts his face to look at the man before him, everything happening too fast for his broken mind to catch up, he breathes out a short huff of air mixed with a mewl and the man presses the barrel of the gun to his forehead, pressing hard so Buck's head tilts backwards.
"You don't know when to die, do you?" He growls between his gritted teeth.
Buck's eyes close and his breath hitches in his throat, face damp with tears, his voice not even a whisper. "I'm sorry."

Summary
Buck and Eddie were together in El-Paso, living together and raising Chris together after Shannon left shortly after Chris turns three. While Eddie's parents were not happy about it, there was not a lot they could do since Eddie had made it very clear that he would not let them drive away another partner. However, when Eddie is shot and falls into a coma, and Helena and Ramon are the only ones informed about it, they see their chance to finally get rid of the blight on their family. They tell Buck that Eddie was killed and sue him for custody of Chris which is granted by the judge along with a restraining order forbidding Buck to ever knowingly come within a hundred miles of his son. When Eddie wakes months later, they tell him that Buck is the one that died and left Chris with them.
It all comes out two years later when Eddie joins the 118.
