The Drakes were cursed. Cursed to know the day they died.
Tim’s Grandmother had lived for sixty years. His father would live for forty three years, his mother thirty nine. There was a pattern there, one Tim didn’t like to think about. But he knew, no matter how much he tried to ignore it, he knew when he would die.
Seventeen felt too short a life to live.

That wasn’t fair. It wasn’t fair. Tim had just found proof that Bruce was alive, and now he’s dying. He’s not going to save Bruce, everyone else thought he was gone and dead, so no one will go looking for the Bat.
“Tim?” Bruce asked, reaching out to him and Tim bit back a wail.

In Tim’s haze of fire, he ends up with a thought that turns everything into ice.
It’s been a year since he came back with Bruce and he never got an apology.
So Tim walks up to his older brother who’s now taken a step backward with slightly widened eyes at the smile- the cold and very wide grin that’s taken place on Tim’s face very quickly, very suddenly -and he walks straight up to the man in front of him, puts his hands on his shoulders, and knees him straight in the dick.
Casually stepping over his older brother practically crying on the edge of the platform, and ignoring the gobsmacked look shared among Tam, the security guards, and most of the press who caught it all on camera, he walks over to wooden stand with the microphone and begins nonchalantly talking about the unfortunate mistake made by someone he doesn't care about in a division that’s so unimportant he was literally thinking about shutting it down a few weeks ago.
The questions asked by the press weren’t on topic at all.

When Jack Drake’s business trip gets canceled, he is forced to stay at home while the legal kinks get worked out. He’s not used to having a teenager underfoot, so it’s only rational that he’s a little snappish around Tim. At least, that’s what Tim tells himself each time his dad’s idea of discipline gets harsher.
Bruce had told him to take a break from Robin in order to spend some time at home with his dad, and Tim can’t say no to that. He knows Bruce is probably glad to be rid of him for a short while.
And he can handle discipline. This is a Tim Drake problem, not a Robin problem anyway. There’s no need for Bruce to know anything.
Things get a little muddled when an injured Jason Todd crawls through his bedroom window.

Tim knew his parents weren’t good parents. He felt bad whenever he thought about it because he knew other children, other children in Gotham had it much, much worse.
The first time his parents ever hit him, he was six. Looking back on it, it wasn’t bad, Tim thought. His parents were already in a bad mood because of a deal that fell through with a Taiwanese company with Drake industries, so when Tim tried to bother his dad to play with him, it was only natural that he got slapped away. It wasn’t hard, just enough for him to know that he had to back off. He kept himself from tearing up until he got to his room.
