“I can’t,” she choked out, pushing her face further into his chest. She felt his chin lift off her head, and the hand holding her wrists released them as he tilted his face towards hers. His thumb brushed against her cheekbone, his pupils dilated, and before she had a chance to move back he spoke. “Breathe, Elena.”
