Blue paused at the words, his shoulders hunching slightly as he slowed to a stop. He sent them a glance—only to immediately grimace and look away when they caught his gaze. The Spirit paused next to him, patiently waiting for him as he took a shaky breath.
"Sorry," he offered quietly, "I'm… not used to people picking up on things like that. It's kind of strange, how you seem to be… better at this. Than Dream was. He's the Guardian of Positivity and you're…"
"The King of Negativity?" Nightmare finished, a hint of amusement in their tone.
The Guard flushed slightly, a sheepish grin tugging at his mouth. "Y-yeah, uh. Yeah."
Nightmare had noticed right away that their stupid 'brother' didn't properly appreciate the one mortal in his little group—and soon enough, they found themselves stealing the poor song bird right from under their enemies' noses.

Nightmare has always thought Blueberry is a little cute, so when the ignorant skeleton starts trying to talk and befriend him, he notices something he never thought he'd feel for the enemy. It's not love! Definitely not at all! He's just... very interested in how he could be even cuter when smiling, or laughing, or blushing.

When Blueberry finds out one of the Dark Sanses is his soulmate, he can't help but want to contact him, even against the Star Sanses advice. Of course, his soulmate is non-other than one of the strongest monsters in the whole multiverse, Nightmare. He's not going to let that sway his decision. After all, everyone deserves another chance!
But when was Nightmare so kind?

Summary
Blue works out that Dream's aura, being pressed against his soul so hard and so often, is very bad for his health. So he goes to the only place Dream can't follow with his good intentions - Nightmare's castle. Never to miss an opportunity to torment his brother, Nightmare accepts Blue into the gang, taking on the massive project of making the multiverse's most positive mortal negative.

Underswap Sans (Blue) is unfortunately injured during a battle and is permanently scarred for life across the left side of his face. When his new appearance begins to scare people away, from civilians to friends to even family, his attitude changes to match his new fearsome look, despite his vulnerable need for closeness. When the Bad Sanses are interested in him for these new changes, he welcomes their cold embrace, perhaps all too willingly.
