A panic started to rise in his chest. He didn't recognize any of it. Not the matching bedside tables, not the window curtains, not clothes on his back. Even the carpet felt odd against his bare feet as he leapt out of bed. He rushed into the ensuite and splashed cold water on his face. Eyes closed, he took a stabilizing breath before slowly opening his eyes to look at his reflection.

“What do you mean, uh? You should,” he says severely, tapping at a tablet in his hand. Steve frowns, trying to remember, but as soon as he does a bright flare of pain goes off in his temples, flooding sharply though his head and not letting up until he’s stopped trying to think about what he should know.
Something on the other side of his bed starts to beep, and the other man looks up from his tablet. “Hang on a sec, then,” he says slowly. “Maybe you shouldn’t. Who are you?”

The room goes quiet. Tony’s breath catches in his throat. The dread in his chest tightens around his ribs, making it hard to breathe.
“Steve,” he whispers quietly. “Steve, it’s me, Tony.”
Steve’s brow furrows a little. “...Tony?” he says, and Tony looks at his eyes, those bright blue eyes, and doesn’t find any recognition in them at all, no matter how hard he searches. “I’m sorry, but have we met?”

Dean wakes up in bed next to a very human Castiel, and a journal in his own handwriting that tells him it’s two years in the future. The house looks a lot like Bobby’s, and Sam lives there too… He just can’t remember how they got from angels falling in the sky – to comfortable domesticity.
While there is much in the journal Dean doesn’t remember, there is much of their story he’s always known. And as he settles into the routine of his new life and relationship with Castiel, it quickly becomes something he doesn’t know how to live without.

Summary
Being a hunter was all Dean knew ever since his mother had been killed by a demon when he was four. Hunting, offing monsters, and then jumping to the next case was his life.
