Idiot. I put myself out here to keep you safe. Do yourself a favor and get out, respect my noble sacrifice, and maybe toast me at the hotel later if you all live and you goddamn better .
He wanted to say all of that out loud but it was too much effort. In his head, it would stay, trapped among the ringing bells and the other concussion symptoms.
“No. It’s, uh… it’s moved on, I think,” Angel panted. “We’re still holed up in the safehouse, but they can’t get through Alastor’s wards. If we hurry, we can probably ride this out ‘til they get called back.”
Husk exhaled. Victory through making like mice in holes was barely a victory. “They’re not gonna stop til they take the hotel. They’ll be back in a week tops.”
Angel’s extra eyes opened, a sure sign of his own anger. What did he have to be angry about? He wasn’t the one fucking up a shell of a man making something of himself. Husk closed his own eyes in exasperation as the other Sinner began to spit at him. “Shut up. Just shut the fuck up. We’ll burn that bridge when we get to it.”
Husk cracked one eye open. “It’s cross, Angel.”
“Not the way this night is goin’.”

When Lucifer agrees to seal his angelic powers to set an example of humility and to buy more time for the Hotel to produce results, Adam and the Exorcists scheme with the Vees in order to take the Hazbin Hotel down for good. Lucifer released air from behind pursed lips with a teakettle whistle. “Listen, Box.”
“Vox.“
“That’s what I said. Iiii don’t want your soul. I don’t actually do that, mmkay? Common misconception, actually.” He nodded slowly, eyes wide and doll-like, his mouth arranged in a sharp-toothed half-smile. He was, and this was annoying to admit, unfairly pretty. Like so pretty you wanted to hit him until he was less pretty. Piss-On-The-Mona-Lisa because you want to destroy something beautiful pretty. “It’s gross. It’s a little weird. And, like, what- what do I even need souls for? Look at me. I’m good. That’s just a cheap way Sinners try to get on the level of beings like me.”
Vox leaned forward, hopeful. The contempt washed right over him. Yeah, Sinners were assholes and most of them were stupid and the 1% were clever and opportunistic and Lucifer should fucking hate them and when they rose up and punched him off his throne, he could choke on that disdain for all he cared. “So you’re going to tear up the contract, right?”

“Angel,” Husk said, softly, collecting his hands- all of them, because they were all going in different directions, finding new things to try and rend as he edged closer to the precipice that was lighting a match and watching all these nice things you loved so much that you thought you deserved going up in smoke. Self-destruction was an artform. The second he saw the light at the end of the tunnel, he was booking it for the gutter to take his chances with the rats. “Come on, man. Back it up.”
Husk was good at what he did and what he did was make paths in the gutter that led back to the light.
