Description:

This series follows Aleryn Vadorath, a triton monk who has chosen to investigate the crisis of the Elemental Evil cults gathering on dry land. The themes of this story tend to include Aleryn's life as an autistic woman having grown up in a repressive, heavily militarized society, and her attempts to grow beyond the trauma they've inflicted on her.

The stories from Gathering Storm to Picture Perfect mostly take place around Faerûn's Dessarin Valley, usually near or in the small town of Red Larch (and, on one occasion, the city of Waterdeep). They focus on Aleryn's story as it connects directly to the Elemental Evil crisis, namely her emotional connection to the cults and her feelings as an adventurer.

Starting from The Selkie's Student onward, Aleryn goes on a journey to the prison plane of Terminus so she can train to become a better warrior, hoping this will allow her to face the cults better. In Terminus, the focus shifts to Aleryn's personal growth, overcoming the fears and insecurities that plague her as she gains trusted friends who show her another path to life. The genre here is mostly slice of life with rare bouts of combat.
