Summary
Valisthea is dying.
While kings and countries vie for dwindling resources, the Bearers who make up a small portion of the population live and die by the whims of their owners. Clive, a Bearer slave born in Rosaria, couldn’t care less about the political machinations happening around him: the fall of his home country, the political alliances of Dominants, or the wars between nations. He cares about one thing – the freedom network known as the Road which aims to save as many Bearers as possible.
Unfortunately, it’s never that simple.
Or, Clive is born a Bearer. This changes some things and doesn’t change others.
Afterall, Ultima is still out there waiting on their Mythos.

Summary
Cid has always thought the romantic tales of souls switching to be overblown nonsense, not least because he’s seen it go bad so many times. Waking up as a Bearer in service to the Holy Empire of Sanbreque doesn’t seem likely to change his mind – especially not when he learns what, exactly, four Bearers are doing in the woods not far from Waloed’s camp.
Clive, meanwhile, hasn’t thought much at all about such things in the five years since the burning of Phoenix Gate. As far as he’s concerned, a switch with Waloed’s Lord Commander is just one more hardship that he needs to survive long enough to track down his brother’s killer and take his revenge.
Neither of them expect this switch to end well. Both of them, of course, are wrong.

Clive lays dying on the beach, his life slipping away, when suddenly, he finds himself back in time, five years ago. He can't comprehend the divine intervention that sends him back, but overwhelming gratitude fills his heart. This is his second chance, and he is determined to make things right, to save as many lives as he can, especially the one person he has missed dearly for the past five years. With all the Eikon powers still within him, Clive embarks on this new journey, armed with the knowledge of what is to come and the determination to change the future for the better.
The man Cid finds in Nysa Defile is certainly everything the rumors have told, and more, surprisingly. Although his strange and touchy behaviors baffle him, he is grateful to have him join his cause nonetheless.

Summary
With enormous effort, Clive was able to get on his feet and the pain became insufferable. His steps were short, limp, and slow. As he continued to walk, the harder it got to continue, each step was agonizing for him, and it took everything from him to even move his body.
As they got closer to the room of his assignment his strength left the body, leading him to collapse onto the floor. He knew he had to get up, but he had no more energy, and the pain was unbearable, the soldiers then decided they wasted enough time, and simply dragged him on the floor the rest of the way.
