Summary
After Shiro's disappearance, the paladins struggle to go on and continue fighting against the Galra Empire, they switch lions with Keith as their leader and try to be whole again, but nobody knows exactly where to go from there, how to search for their lost friend, and each of them deals with the loss in their own way.
Meanwhile, Lance battles his insecurities and loneliness and tries to find what he contributes to the team, wishing to have something that made him special like his teammates. But on a rescue mission to a barren planet, they find someone they didn't expect, and when a fight ensues, Lance gets more than he bargained for when he gains something that settles a new path in front of him.
Maybe he should have been more careful with what he wished for.
"This is the thirteenth time already, I can't keep doing this, I'm going mad, I can't stop it, I can't save you!" Lance cried, full out sobbing in the darkness of his room, it was hopeless, he was stuck and nobody could help him, no matter what he did, it was always the same, and he knew he was slowly spiraling into insanity, and the worst part? He couldn't tell anyone, even if he wanted to, he'd tried, he'd nearly choked, he never felt so alone.

Another scrap of parchment shot out of the cup, a fourth scrap of parchment, which made no sense at all, and the Headmaster grabbed it from the air, unrolling it and reading it quietly.
The entirety of the Great Hall remained silent. It was as quiet as a tomb.
“Lance Álvarez?” The Headmaster whispered, and then again, louder. “Lance Álvarez.”

// Lance and Keith have always been battling it out: on the Quidditch field, in the duelling club, for the best marks in Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Keith always manages to come out in the lead.

But Lance just looked at Keith and shook his head, they both knew he wouldn’t be able to outrun the guards with his leg wound. A fond look formed on Lance’s face as he drank in the prince probably for the last time.That stupid fond look remained on Lance’s face even as the guards tackled him from all sides.
“No!” Keith cried, but General Lotor held him back. “Let him go, please, let him go!”
“I can’t my prince,” the general whispered in his ear, “he is accused of high treason.”
“It’s okay Keith.” Lance said calmly as the guards hauled him away.
Keith helplessly watched as they took Lance away from him. That idiot knew exactly what he was doing when he saved Keith’s life, he knew he would get caught and he knew they would probably kill him, and he saved Keith anyway.
Keith hated him for it. Keith loved him for it.OR

“Technically… there isn’t one.” Lance stretched out the beginning of his sentence only to rush the rest, quickly continuing over the sound of Hunk groaning loudly and Pidge yelling, “Lance!”. “However, it’s something that’s very important to me that I don’t want the whole damn castle overhearing, so the courtyard is still appropriate.”
Pidge rolled her eyes as Hunk sighed, both of them sinking onto the bench as Lance came to a stop in front of them, already pacing back and forth.
“Fine, then,” Pidge relented, crossing her arms over her chest. “Why are we out here? I was doing important work with Coran.” Lance scowled at her, curling his fingers into loose fists.
“This is important too! I met a cute boy. Well, I didn’t really meet him, but I saw him, and I know his name and how old he is and everything.”

Escaping during the night just to see the lantern festival in the Altea Empire was something Prince Keith had not planned, especially without any guards by his side because why would he? Well, during the festival someone unexpectedly bumped into Prince Keith, they were taller than Keith but not that much to where someone would call him a Twink. So, of course Keith had managed to sniff him and recognize he's an Alpha. Not only did the weird cloaked Alpha smell familiar but they knew immediately he was a Prince. What a weirdo.

The last thing he heard was the sorceress calling out over the chaos.
“By the ancient spirits’ powers, let your secrets be secrets no longer!”
Then, everything went black.

Summary
The Galra was one of the most powerful kingdoms to ever exists, with mighty Galra and many allies, but plenty of enemies too. For decades, they’ve been at war with the Alteans, and are losing. Even King Zarkon knew that this war can’t go on forever, and desperately wants to end the war before his kingdom falls.
After learning that King Alfor’s son, Prince Lance, is an Alpha and will take over as king, Zarkon could only think of one thing he could offer: his youngest son, Prince Keith, the first Omega born in the royal line in centuries.
Lance and Keith both learn to cope with the arrangement, trying to get through the days without being reminded of their destinies. They both believed the same thing: that this wasn’t going to work, that there was no way either one of them would come out of this satisfied. That no matter what happened, they weren't in control of their own lives. Instead, the boys learn that living with each other isn’t as bad as it sounds. If they can learn to become friends, then maybe, just maybe, some other good things could come out of this.
