It's been a few days, she thinks. Maybe almost a week by now.
But, she honestly couldn't believe it. She couldn't believe the things they were saying, the way they were keeping her locked up in a room on constant surveillance, and Pearl wasn't allowed anywhere near her. Why were they all being so hostile, so aggressive, and so inconsiderate to the one she cared so much for? The way everyone was avoiding Marina like the plague, as the doctors and security kept spreading lies about her throughout the stronghold, about how she was dangerous and contagious. It infuriated her like nothing else.

The quiet’s nice, when all they’ve known is chaos. Splatsville never shuts up and they worship the noise of it, and it worships them back- here, water laps at scrap on the shores and that’s it. It’s the kind of thing that could drive him mad, were he in worse company.
