NOTE: This story takes place following “Heart of Gold”. I do plan on writing about where I left off the other characters, I really enjoy writing Bluebeard and Rose together, and I think I figured out what Tiny Tim’s punishment should be, but I have to flesh it out… and how the Mundy world is reacting to the revelation that the Fables are real and in NYC!

His prickly demeanor and snark comes naturally to him. It also happens to be his go-to thing with the Sheriff.
Why? Because it's easy. Because it's familiar. Because on good days Bigby would snark back and they'd have a good chuckle about it later.
But clearly this wasn't one of those days. Hell, nor were any other of his days recently.

Snow and Bigby are finally back together after a few years of painful separation. As happy as they are to reunite, there's still a lot they have to talk about regarding the relationship between them, and their children, after Bigby's absence. But no matter what's happened, they're both determined to start fresh and make the best choices for their pack, this time, together.
This is a fic I've been working on for almost two years, and finally am ready to share it. Their relationship means so much to me and I'll always wish the canon did them better justice. I can only hope this helps make up for all the relationship development and character growth we didn't get to see; I took a little creative liberty on a few scenes to help make the rushed reunion they did have easier to swallow.

She pulled her hand back, and took one last drag from her cigarette before flicking it to the ground and grinding it into the pavement with her heel. “Hey... I need to tell you something.”
“What is it?” Bigby asked.
A hand was placed on his shoulder and the woman in front of him leaned in to whisper: “You’re not as bad as everyone says you are.”
She kissed him on his cheek, that same spot healed over but still stained with blood. Then, she walked away, pumps pounding softly into the concrete. Without looking back, she waved goodbye with two fingers. “I'll see you around… Wolf.”
He would watch her, confused and intrigued, until she disappeared behind a street corner. Putting his own cigarette to his mouth and lighting it, he found himself hoping that to be the case.
( Bigby and Faith, and moments that could have happened if they had met just a few more times before her death. Of being the unseen, and seeing each other more clearly than anyone else. )

Pushing off from the pier, he jumped in, cannonball-style, splashing water everywhere. When he came up for air, he heard Grendel’s hoarse, almost pig-like laughter. He was wiping water off his face, laughing his lungs out.

Vacation felt wonderful. In the mornings, there might not have been birds singing or sunshine gently streaming through the window—quite the opposite, really. The light was harsh, stinging his eyes and urging him to close the curtains as quickly as possible. But that didn’t take away from the peace of it all. At least he didn’t have to jump out of his warm bed and rush off to another case, only to end up breaking up a fight between a frog and a monkey, then dragging himself back to his office to sort through the paperwork Snow left behind.
