Good music, slow showers and conversation, just a few ways to thaw a house into home again. Per routine, Lewis hangs up Roscoe’s leash, retrieves his slippers and shuffles to his study.
Outside, glass and spoons tap in the kitchen. Leo squeaks his favourite toy. Lewis hums, a soft song settles between grains of silence and his shoulders slouch. All their walls are white, disorienting after weeks of racing colour. This is Real World: sweat sticking shirt to skin and bothering as the air-conditioner whirrs.
What is it, indeed? He’s trained himself bold; to brush discomfort off over his shoulder, but that’s where Charles is, always. Close. Watching. I won my first career Grand Prix in white, he could say. Colour is magnetised to memory, and white excites Lewis.
White walls, bridal white. Heat fills his soul to imagine magnets on their fridge and trinkets on their shelves. He’ll never tell, but his dreams lap round a circuit, melting tyres as he thinks- he thinks- he thinks- of Charles. Next time they meet, he’ll have thought of him ten times over.
What else?
But there with all his faithful gestures, Lewis fears.
To frustrate Charles; start their future fights with this gnawing want. They’ll fall apart, write it off as sour rivalry. Lewis will return to a heartbreak house, no proof they ever loved. All this he can’t say, with mere weeks between races.
It is already too good to believe now. How will he remember down the years that Charles… how lucky, how close they…
One sigh, and Charles devotes the afternoon.
“There you go, Il Predestinato,” Lewis teases, blowing at his lashes. “Made you close your eyes.”
“I'm going to cum in my pants if I look,” Charles argues, and Lewis loves the thought. He cups his erection over his undone fly, delighting in the way Charles folds, crooning in his jugular.

“Nothing,” Charles replied quickly, finally looked at him, wide-eyed, just for a second, smiled with a nervous laugh, “Just a—a joke.”

Given that they’re going to be teammates next year, Charles knows he has to tread carefully but surely a fun guy like Lewis will just laugh it off. The last thing he expected was for Lewis to actually fall for him, much less the reverse.
Subplot: Checo sees Max spending a lot of time with Fernando and, as one does, assumes the two of them are dating. Unaware that Max is getting Spanish lessons from the Spaniard to charm him, Checo asks him if they're going out and Max, in a panic, says yes. Now he has to win Checo back.
