Vax sped up his strides to catch up with Percy, instinctively scanning the surroundings for threats, for unfriendly eyes, and then slowed enough to keep pace with him. Things were suddenly the slightest bit awkward, an apology was out of his mouth before he’d entirely thought it through.
“Er—sorry. Didn’t mean to be so rough.”
“I think you’re the first person to ever press me up against a wall.” Percy replied, aloof but with the smallest hint of a smile. “Do not concern yourself, I find I am quite intact.”
It was a classic Percy response.
Vax found himself charmed by it anyway.

Percy stared at him. He could feel his face flushing somewhat, but for the first time in a long time he couldn't quite manage to find his words.
Vax shot him a quicksilver grin before pushing himself to his feet and disappearing off into the growing shadows around them.
Without a word, Percy reached up to touch his lips. They felt almost as if they were burning where Vax had kissed him, even though he knew it was just his imagination.
Oh. Oh. He... hadn't expected that.

“Bullshit,” Vax interrupted. “As I seem to recall you didn’t ask for our help. We told you that you weren’t going in there without us.” He paused as Percy lifted the cloth to apply the crushed herbs, the warm, green scent permeating the air.
Vax seems to be steeling himself, choosing his words with deliberate care. “You have been there for all of us, Percival. You couldn’t have expected us to just let you face this alone.” Percy blinks, giving the half-elf a questioning look. “You helped us save Grog when you didn’t even know us, you’ve always supported us in any way you could, you’ve been nothing but generous with your skills, and… and when I fuck up, I know the next thing I hear is going to you blasting away some poor bastard while calling me and idiot.”
