Week two of the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games: Peeta needs medicine, Katniss needs sleep syrup, and Haymitch is roaming the Capitol in search of a last-minute sponsor (and, OK, a drink). Luckily, he’s thought of someone—Jumina Aziz, a former socialite who’s known Haymitch since his own days as the Quarter Quell victor. Unluckily, Haymitch and Jumina aren’t really speaking anymore… on account of his behaving like an inebriated asshole the last time he saw her (and the time before that. And the time before that). For the sake of his tributes, can Haymitch get Jumina to forgive him tonight?

Cato Hadley volunteers for the seventy fourth hunger games. He doesn't realize that Clove's name will be the one called. They try their best to survive. But when Cato dies being chewed to pieces by mutts something unusual happens. He wakes up with Clove still alive. Try as he might he just can't save her. And he does try. More times than he can count.
He learns the girl on fire is stuck with him. And she can't seem to save her loverboy.
Obviously there's only one thing left to do. Blame each other.

Shaylin Herba was no stranger to tragedy. She lost her brother to the Hunger Games, a barbaric pageant that pitted children against each other and made them fight to the death. She also lost her brother-in-law in a work accident. Life in the districts was nothing like the Capitol; it was hard, and dangers were more prevalent. And finally, she lost her parents. Shay didn't even know what happened to them. One day, they were there, and the next, they were gone.
Closed off and reserved to all but a select few, Shay is forced out of her comfort zone and into the Capitol's circus. A tribute in the same games that she lost her brother to, she must fight to return to her family and friends.
However, her efforts become more difficult as she grows closer to those that she must kill to survive. Allies and enemies become blurred as she enters the 74th Hunger Games. Her goal is to survive, to make it back to District 10 in one piece, but what happens if she loses herself along the way? Because the truth is, even the victors are not winners. No one wins when it comes to the games.
