Being dead isn't that bad. At least Clarke doesn't think so. She is stuck as a ghost in a cemetery, but she doesn't mind. It's pretty, she can watch and listen when people come to visit, and she can enjoy the seasons as they go by. She is fine with everything in her afterlife...usually.
Lexa comes to visit nearly every other day. As a ghost Clarke is limited in how she can let her presence be known, but with Lexa, she always tries. She tries to make her smile, and she tries to make her laugh, but one day when Lexa confesses something she shouldn't, Clarke's afterlife changes forever.

At almost ninety years old, Uruha's main preoccupation is trying to get his adopted granddaughter to make friends with someone, rather than spending all of her time working for the Kamunabi. He gets the idea to set her up with the nurse who takes care of him, thinking that it would be good for the both of them.
The rest of his time he spends with Fushimi. His soulmate might have died more than fifty years ago, but that doesn't matter. His spirit lingered on, and when Uruha visits the local cemetery he's turned back into his younger self, and the two are reunited.
He knows that the end is drawing closer, and he isn't scared. There are just a few loose ends he needs to tie up before he leaves.

Gary turned back toward the grave like it might save him, but it didn’t.
“I didn’t want him to die,” he said finally, voice cracking. “I just wanted him to shut up. I just wanted someone to listen to me for once. I thought if I could be louder than everyone else, then maybe I’d stop feeling like I was already dead.”
Stebbins didn’t say anything. The wind blew a flower petal off the grave. It tumbled once, twice, then got caught against Gary’s boot. He didn’t move to pick it up.
“I keep talking to him like he’s gonna answer me,” Gary whispered. “Is that insane?”
“No,” Stebbins said. “It’s grief. Don’t you know there’s nothing dignified about grief?"
