Ozai had witnessed the devotion and protectiveness of his people to his son and he could see it as an advantage. Three years later, he allows Zuko to start his diplomatic voyage to the Earth Kingdom in hopes of bringing peace. But should anything happen to him… Will Ozai win the war and be rid of Zuko?

What if Chit Sang knew what Zuko did, knew what the Prince had stood up for, and thanked him? And what if that lead to more secrets coming to light, unable to stay covered when the sun choose to shine down upon it?
Aka, my take on how the Chit Sang would reveal what Zuko stood for to the Gaang + Hakoda, and how it would be seen. I did this all while listening to "Things We Lost In The Fire" by Bastille on repeat. (I had to, at some point, make an obligatory Gaang finds out about the scar with added spice!)

“You have more than all of them combined,” Chit Sang interrupted him, with enough vitriol to have Zuko snapping his head up to look at him. “You, over the snake on the throne and the viper at his feet. You, Prince Zuko—“
He cut himself off abruptly, scrubbing a hand over his brow.

~“H-hey,” a weak voice calls from one of the coolers. “L-le-let me ou-out of he-here.”
Zuko stops in front of the door. The voice is so familiar, but he can’t quite place it. It sounds so different from the last time he heard it and the quiver brought on by the cold doesn’t help. He ignores Sokka as he urges him to keep moving. The sound of his racing heart drowns out his friend’s voice as he reaches for the lock.
He expects to see someone from his past, but he’d expected someone from his childhood. Maybe one of the kids he played with before his mother disappeared. Ice chases his blood from his veins at the sight of the person on the other side of the door.~While trying to escape the Boiling Rock Prison, Zuko and Sokka come across someone they never expected in one of the coolers.

Summary
Sokka had only had to get Zuko and Suki on working together terms in this prison, not so hard! Yet here he was, Zuko and Suki were patching things together oddly well, Jet was seemingly back from the dead, and a random firebender had just dropped himself into Sokka’s plans rather rudely. He had mere hours to work out a plan and get everyone off this cursed volcano. No one had ever escaped before and here he was all of 15 years old and thinking himself better than every person in this place. What could he see that they couldn’t? Not a Tui and La blessed thing and he was admitting it now. He was going to be the reason Suki and Jet stayed, and possibly worst of all the reason Zuko was just handed back to the Fire Nation on a golden platter.

Her name is Kya of the Southern Water Tribe. Wife to Hakoda of the Southern Water Tribe. Friend to Bato, Iyek, and Kyu of the Southern Water Tribe. Mother to Sokka and Katara, the last waterbender in the South Pole. Unbeknownst to her captors, Kya has traded her freedom and her dignity for her daughter’s life. Kya has spent five years in six different Fire Nation prisons and eleven different cells. Kya is, presently, at the Boiling Rock prison, which is muggy and uncomfortable and surrounded by a lake of scalding-hot water. Kya highly suspects they’ve forgotten that she’s supposed to be a waterbender.
Kya’s well aware of the situational irony.
