Summary
Slowly but surely, Shepard makes it to the bathroom. Uses the sink counter for support once she gets there. Ugh. She shouldn’t feel so winded; she used to be a soldier, damn it. Then again, it has been an entire year since both she and Garrus officially retired. So, it’s not like either of them are running around nearly as much as they did while aboard the Normandy.
Her gaze meets her reflection. She takes a deep, shaky breath as she traces over the scarring on her face with her eyes. Then she removes one hand from the counter to touch the burns on her neck. Never mind the limp; these are the permanent reminders.
“You’re beautiful,” Garrus says as he appears behind her. He wraps his arms around her midsection, and she leans her weight into his warm body. Somehow, they fit so perfectly together. So naturally. “Freckles, scars, and all,” he goes on.

Garrus shrugs his shoulders. “Why do you think I spend so much time calibrating?”
She lets herself chuckle at this. “Fair enough.” She pauses. “Is that all, though? I mean, what if you need a break from that?”
“I make it work.” He shifts his weight back and forth. “I won’t lie, it’s a little difficult not being on a turian ship.”
“Are you uncomfortable?”
“No, no, no, it’s not like that. It’s just—”
“Just…what?”
“Well…turians handle stress relief very differently than humans.”
She quirks an eyebrow. “Do explain.”

AKA, shepard and garrus start hooking up long before the aftermath of garrus' loyalty mission (or the suicide mission, for that matter), but they still try to be discreet and keep their newfound relationship a secret from the rest of the crew

Anathema "Thema" Shepard has seen that look in his own eyes before. To be fair, the eyes in front of him are technically 'his' as well, but the point stands: he can't just stand by. When has he ever stood by and let someone die when he could help it? Shepard grabs his clone before he can let go, and is insistent on helping him find himself. Garrus is pretty sure two Commander Shepard's is more than the Galaxy can handle. Chaos and feels ensue.
Anathema "Athem" Shepard has only been awake for six months, and he doesn't feel like he's truly lived any of them. Brooks shaped him into a weapon, but the man whose life he tried to steal is hell bent on trying to give him his own to live. Shepard's crew don't share his compassionate outlook on the whole situation, though.
