Summary
The gods need a lesson.
After so much time being all powerful it’s time they realize how fragile they truly are, how easy enemies have risen among them, how their own actions have led them to almost extinction so many times. They need to know those they see as pawns, they have to understand their pain and their fights, they have to be faced with all the pain and despair that colors the lives of those who they most often see as pawns.
They have to see the demigods as they are. As children, their children.
Or: The demigods from a few days after the battle against Gaea and the gods from two years before the Master Bolt is stolen are given ten books to read with the expectation that it will give them what they need to create a different, and better, path.

In one universe, the Gods were blessed with children and never had to go without, using them as cannon fodder or simply taking their very presence for granted.
In the other, the gods don't have such a blessing. Instead, having been cursed by Kronos for all their children to die before they can get to know them, before they can breathe- only a few surviving long enough to ascend to godhood. These Gods don't take their few surviving children for granted or send them on dangerous, life threatening quests. Surely they won't mind a few more?

Only Percy has been kidnapped (and deaged to 12) so far and he ended up meeting a horse which gossiped to his herd, plus got injured and bled all over the place, so he was quickly found and brought back to olympus where his dad is fussing over him like a baby…
The language barrier is absolutely there and Percy only knows a few words of ancient greek, so Hermes is the only one he can communicate with, though not much communication is happening (he thinks he has been kidnapped by freaky copycats or a cult)
There is an evil cult of kronos plotting in the background which has kidnapped a prophet

If anyone here should be a narrator it should have been Luke. Luke wasn’t a kid. He wasn’t new to this demi-god thing. He was-
“The snake haired ladies were starting to annoy Percy. They should have three days ago when he dropped a crate of bowling balls on them at Napa Bargain Mart. They should have died two days ago when he ran them over with a police car in Martinez. They definitely should have died this morning when he cut off their heads in Tidden Park. No matter how many times Percy killed them and watched them crumble to powder, they just kept reforming like large evil dust bunnies.
The description of crumble to powder was familiar. “They’re like Mrs.Dodds,” Percy said out loud. He felt cold because unlike Mrs.Dodds they didn’t stay dead. How was his future self managing to keep killing them? Percy managed to kill Mrs.Dodds out of sheer luck and with Mr.Brunner having given him a pen that wasn’t just a pen.
“They’re monsters like Mrs.Dodds.” Grover began to explain and Percy should be thankful for Grover giving him answers but Percy couldn’t help but feel a bit angry.
“So you admit there was a Mrs.Dodds.”
Grover looked as though Percy had kicked him in the ribs.

“Percy-” his dad tried.
“NO! I don’t want to be a god.” Percy wasn’t aware if his voice actually broke, or if that was in his head. He was getting more upset by the second. He didn’t care that he sounded like a spoiled kid.
There was a look in Poseidon’s eyes. Like he wanted to make everything better for his kid but knew he couldn’t. It was a look of loving, longing, grief. “Percy.” He tried again. This time reaching out and grabbing his son’s arm.
Percy looked into his dad’s eyes. He knew. Percy’s not sure if it’s because his dad’s a god or if it was just because of how strong the emotions in Poseidon’s eyes were. “Dad-” Percy’s voice shook as he spoke, his eyes teared up. He didn’t want to accept that his dad couldn’t fix this.

When May Castellan tried to become the Oracle of Delphi, the curse broke her mind. Only, it didn't. It just awoke the memories of her past life.
Unfortunately, she doesn't remember much from that book series she read as a kid. Which is kind of a problem when her son is Luke Castellan. She's pretty sure that he's a major player in the series, but all she knows about him is that he was possessed by Kronos and sacrificed his life to stop him.
So when she sees a god standing over him, of course she does the sensible thing and runs as far away as possible.
