Mangling the Fowls is the first story in The Dark Asgard Chronicles. It introduces the reader to the slave society and the underhanded schemes the royal family has embarked on to ensure the right son sits on the throne of Asgard. The story is mostly Loki-centric, but other Thor movie characters receive attention as well. The story’s underlying theme is that we are all slaves to something.

Summary
The Intermission for Loki and Tony Stark's ongoing animosity train is officially over, cut short after Barnes' unexpected visit to the Tower was noticed: managing to lure Rogers down their way, along with Eir.. and Thor.
Much to the surprise of everyone except Barnes --who only a week and a half ago Tony had attempted to kill-- Tony's aggression and bite isn't aimed at Loki's back after his quick retreat: but instead at Thor, and Asgard especially, in turns.
It probably doesn't help that Tony is not a fan of the committee the argument turned into, holding him up from looking for his bailed caretaker; and from asking Barnes about where he might maybe find his apparent girlfriend down in the village. Or that, the more they ask; the more Thor tries to give them exactly what Loki had said he would, in the attempt to confirm any of what the Trickster had bitten out at Stark before he'd simply stepped out of the same window space Loki had thrown him out of four years ago..

There was no goddamn booze on this goddamn floating spacecraft. Brunhilde should have stayed on Sakaar, kept living her life in the pile of trash and enemy bodies that she’d carved her home into. At least then she had enough booze to replace all of the blood in her body. Now she was stuck on a rusted ship with a bunch of refugees of a destroyed planet, a handful of recently freed gladiators, and two Asgardian royals who had her so stressed she was digging through crates to find any drop of booze.
There were none. This craft wasn’t one of the Grandmaster’s commonly used vessels, but a large cargo ship that had been put into decommission a few years back. It still functioned, large enough to house the near two thousand individuals aboard it, and was moving at a relatively quick pace through the vacuum of space. Yet, no booze. No booze whatsoever aboard this ship.
She was almost going to start drinking the fuel lines if she could find nothing.

Since no humans are born as alphas, betas, or omegas, you know there is something wrong with you as your sister is a normal human. You know it must have something to do with the mother you never got to know. You also cannot see colors, but that is normal for all beings until they meet their soulmates.
One day you and your sister are attacked by a group of masked men and you are both hauled away to a hidden facility. You learn that your father sold you both to a group known as HYDRA for them to experiment on. Upon arriving at the facility, your father is killed in front of you and your sister. Yu cry out and try to run to him, but the soldiers hold you back. Then they attack your baby sister, who is only 5. They beat her and rape her before killing her in front of you. You are spared only because you are not fully human. You learn that your mother was an Asgardian, like the Norse myths your father told you about.

In which mistakes have consequences, Thor is an idiot, and Loki inevitably pays the price for both those facts. Although, with any luck they might salvage a relationship and learn the definition of communication. Then again, neither of them have been particularly lucky in recent years. Thor doesn't know why he ever expected that to change.
"He momentarily entertains the idea that maybe that's exactly what happened; that Loki has trapped him in some strange pocket universe and is tormenting him with these hyper-realistic shadow clones while he watches and snickers from above.
