‘I think that he was a druid seer,’ Merlin says tersely.
And then of course, of course, Arthur replies, ‘You expect me to listen to a sorcerer?’
Merlin falls silent. His head feels numb, empty, full – of words; of feeling; of furious, furious desperation. It doesn’t make sense how he has been holding on this long when everything is against him and he has spent every waking moment struggling against a doom so heavy his very bones have begun to splinter within.
‘I’ll be quiet, then.’

Merlin considered, just for a moment, what it would be like to leave now.

Or, Merlin finds himself still in the cave in 5x02, makes his way back, rants to Gwaine, discusses Morgana and magic, and nearly gives away his own secret. It's Merlin/Arthur or Merlin/Gwaine slash if you want to read it that way, but you could also read it as strong friendship and loyalty. There are also hints of Merlin/Morgana, but again, it's up to you if the way he thinks and talks about her is platonic or romantic.

Or: When Merlin gets hurt because the knights were stupid and Arthur suddenly realises that his life would pretty much be over if he lost his little brother.
