Summary
It is a truth universally acknowledged by anyone with any magical inclinations - that you did not fuck with the Endless. Not that anyone has seen them in centuries, with the exception of a few, but they are Not To Be Fucked With by every possible measure. It's a known fact - no matter the creature asking - be it fae, draconic, undead, or otherwise. To court the audience of an Endless is to court something far worse.
Hob never was the wisest dragon, and he freely admitted that.

He hadn't expected to be given a reason for his friend's tardiness (and oh, what a terrible reason it was), nor had he expected to ever learn anything about him (and now, after six hundred years, he had a name).
He certainly didn't expect to see Dream again until their next centennial meeting, whether that would be in 2089 or 2121. He told himself it was enough. Luckily for Hob, he only has to lie to himself for a month before Dream visits again.
