    The boy was alone. No one else was around despite it being the middle of the night. Just the boy who made a bee-line for Obi-Wan. He was way too young to be out at this time let alone out here all alone. It was the boy’s training armour that tipped Obi-wan off that this was more than just a lost child.

    “I have a youngling in front of me. There is no one else around and I am pretty sure he’s Mandalorian.”

    Quinlan paused, then asked, “...Come again?”

    Obi-Wan peered down at the child tugging at his arm. “Aran, ner echoy'la.”

    Kriff. “Correction, I have a Mandalorian boy in front of me telling me he’s lost.”

    Basic premise of the AU: Fay yoinks Jon from Dark Woman's influence at some point either during his padawanship or shortly after he becomes a Knight. She finishes his training/mentors him and somewhere along the way teaches him whatever old dialect of Mando'a she speaks (because I love the headcanon where she knew Tarre Vizsla). Jon still has a lot of the scars and weird Shadow-y Force techniques he learned during his padawanship with Dark Woman, but slightly less trauma because of Fay getting him away from Dark Woman.

    Jon follows the Force and casually rolls up to different situations, helps out, gives minimal explanation in old Mando'a, and leaves. All the Mandos: ???

      Fox got some message from Thorn about why Skywalker was stalking Amidala before, apparently Amidala went to the Jedi temple at some point because she never quite felt fully there since some trip to Tatooine with Skywalker right before the war kicked off. According to Thorn's knowledge (which he probably got from snooping and eavesdropping, Fox never criticized Thorn for it because it often somehow helped the Guard in some way or another), Amidala learned Skywalker had unknowingly and unintentionally used the force to make Amidala return all his affections for her. Amidala had not been happy upon learning all that, and so after the compulsions were treated and removed by the Jedi healers, Amidala soon after filed for divorce from Skywalker, despite his actions not being done knowingly or intentionally, she understandably didn't feel safe around Skywalker anymore and didn't trust him anymore either. Skywalker meanwhile was told why Amidala was divorcing him, but had simply fallen into denial that she was suddenly up and rejecting all his 'love' for her, and Thorn also mentioned that Amidala still seemed to care for Skywalker to a small extent, but she'd been indifferent to his outbursts at that point.

      Of course, Amidala had recently been seen with Thorn several times, so three guesses what was going on there (Fox wasn't surprised, Thorn always had a thing for senator Amidala).

      Fox had to give it to Amidala though, going from Skywalker to Thorn? Yeah, he'd say she stepped up. Thorn was a far better option (not that Fox was biased towards his own men, which he was but that wasn't the point

      Obi-Wan reinforced his decision by noticing once again something very simple but very symptomatic of his problems: the situation was tense, but Master Windu was letting him speak, listening and respecting his words even though the conversation was far too serious for someone of his rank, a Padawan who was not even ready to become a Knight. It was clearly not the most opportune moment for Obi-Wan to take up their time now, but they allowed it anyway. He had not told him to know his place and let the adults talk and make the decisions.

      "I wish for the Council to consider allowing me to finish my Padawan apprenticeship with another Master."

      ...

      In other words: there was a huge problem with his training because he was not a bad Padawan, that had never even been implied, but he still was not up to standard. Qui-Gon was failing to prepare him effectively and the Council had not interfered when they could have, and probably should have. He could see from their faces that they understood the message.
