Summary

His partner was always so closed off and aloof, therefore seeing him so interested in some guy he had met just few hours ago made Liu Xiao's blood boil. Especially when the two of them realized that Cheng Xiaoshi also had an ability. When Lu Guang approached him and asked him if the guy could join forces with them, Liu Xiao laughed bitterly.
For such a great thinker, Lu Guang was just childishly naive sometimes. Usually, he found that adorable but not in this case. As much as Liu Xiao knew, most ability users were as twisted as himself. It wouldn't surprise him that even that guy Lu Guang spoke so fondly about was yet another wolf in a sheep's clothing. And Lu Guang was just way too precious to lose. Especially now that he had finally gotten him back.

Cheng Weimin is familiar from two different perspectives and as if tracing back two references to their origin point, years later and in retrospect. There’s something in his face—agonized and sincere at the wrong moment, too-empathetic and too bleeding-heart—that can resemble Cheng Xiaoshi. Something about the the twinge of recognition from his silhouette and the way he extends a hand as offering: trustworthy on the same level he isn’t, aware of what the skin contact can mean and still unflinching at the thought of seeing Li Tianchen’s eyes glowing red back at him in a mirror; all Liu Xiao in the way he performs the gesture. Just as he finished the sentence, the large factory doors slammed shut behind Lu Guang, plunging the factory into near-total darkness. Lu Guang was alone, face to face with the enemy, and a trap he had walked into with his eyes wide open.
Lu Guang glared at him and scoffed, “That's one of the worst things I've heard today! How could you say that we’re alike?”
Liu Xiao snickered. On the contrary, this was the most amusing thing he has heard today.

Irrational, something at the back of his head says, but: the same instinct that has a wounded, feral animal retreat into darkness to lick its wounds.
