The dim light coming from the opposite side of the confessional made you feel uneasy. You couldn't quite tell the shape of the priest, even though you knew he was there, listening to you.
"It's been three months since my last confession." You said fidgeting your thumbs while you tried to find the right words.
The priest cleared his throat, waiting for you to continue.
"I have been spending time with someone who lacks morals... has no respect for our religion and no concern for the people we help... nor me." You gripped your knees. "And I have been enjoying his company despite it all. Every second of it." You said bowing your head in shame.
The priest didn't answer right away. It felt like minutes had passed before he let out a deep chuckle.
"sister..." he purred, his voice deep and hoarse. "do ya really enjoy my company that much?"
You quickly sat up as you woke up, breathing rapidly while looking for him around the library.

Since monsters arrived on the surface 5 years ago, they've already made quite a name for themselves. The exchange of gold to human money, made the richer of the monsters, extremely wealthy and the poorer, simply well off. As you can Imagine, humans were terrified of the idea of monsters with magic seeing them as nothing more than a threat. The first few years, the monsters tried their best to win the governments over but once realising the humans wouldn't listen, they took control instead. Now the cities are controlled by mafias, both monster and human alike. Everything has turned to chaos.
Although life is terrible now, you can't blame them. After everything going to shit, you moved into the cheapest part of town, the monster part. Life wasn't too bad, as long as you ignored the murders and shootings. You worked at the local zoo, pretending everything was okay, but the funding was awful. Although the animals were okay for the most part, the mobs were impacting them. After a particularly stressful day at work, you decide to go to the nearest bar, hoping to relax and wind down. The nearest bar being 'Grillby's'. I'm sure you can guess the rest. -

(Y/N) is a bartender in a horrid, crime ridden city. Just when he thinks it can't get worse, the Don Dee walts into his bar with a monster in tow. Monsters are widely hated and feared, but (Y/N) has no ill feelings toward such people; however, this monster in particular is a mobster. One of the people who made his and others lifes miserable and it seems this mobster took an intrest in (Y/N).

Y/N REALLY hated this city.
Ebott City was no place for little things like her, yet she didn't make an attempt to escape. She didn't have much of a choice. It was sad really, since this was her home and she'd grown up here. But these days, it felt like the world was full of monsters--figuratively and literally--ever since the Underground was freed. Sure, she never turned her nose up toward the inhabitants of the Underground City, and the city wasn't doing too great prior to their freedom, but she couldn't help feel it had gotten worse. Y/N really wanted to get out, find a new life out there that was peaceful and without bloodshed; someday she'd be free. At least, that's what she hoped. Everything began to change, whether she wanted it or not, when he found her.
