“I doubt that I’ll ever return to this place,” Chadley says. He looks around Reeve’s office. Something resembling a pout appears on his face. It’s as close to a human expression as Reeve has seen him make.
“Still, I must say, of all of the rooms in this building, this one was my favourite.”
By nature, Reeve is not a sarcastic person, but even he bites his tongue to keep himself from saying something about the various robot parts for Cait Sith stuffed under his desk, the looming stacks of paperwork making up a city rebuilding plan that will never be used, or the fact that his office doesn’t even have a proper door if Reeve wants privacy.
It’s less of an office and more of a cage, partially-built by his own stupidity.

UPDATE: I am tinkering with this now that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is out. Shirtless Cloud is finally canon!
It seemed a good idea at the time. Sneaking into the Junon barracks posing as a Shinra infantryman. Taking one for the team: just what leaders do, huh? Besides, he had the right training. Barret used to joke about skinny-ass Blondie swapping sides at any point. But Cloud wasn’t expecting to betray his friends like this. Not that he has any choice.
This story is a Final Fantasy VII compilation what-if scenario in which Rufus captures Cloud as the blond swordsman tries to board the ferry from Junon to Costa del Sol in Shinra garb. What does Mr. President want from this terrorist? Come find out. (I think you can guess). A tale of infatuation, bile, friendship, and revenge. Tons of smut, too.

Contrary to popular belief within the Shinra Electric Power Company, Director Reeve Tuesti was not a bad liar. He had learned to be exceptional at it. So exceptional, in fact, that people assumed that he was horrific at lying — the sheepish downward glance, playing up a natural habit of pulling at his shirtsleeves, it was too easy at this point. He simply exaggerated his own instinctive mannerisms.
It was as easy as learning how to carry himself as an executive as opposed to an engineer, or undoing a thick grasslands accent. As he had made his way up the Shinra corporate ladder, it had come easier and easier to him.
The problem was how much he loathed himself afterwards.
Where Urban Development and Planning Division executive Reeve Tuesti gets a new assistant and joins AVALANCHE earlier than expected, among other things.
Set just before the events of Final Fantasy VII. AU-ish (adheres to original compilation details but with Reeve joining AVALANCHE sooner than the original timeline)
