Summary
Seven years after Meteorfall, Edge has flourished. The city has been at the center of the race for new energy sources and all the progress that brings. Eight energy barons have emerged and divided up the city, surrounding themselves with vicious gangs to protect what’s theirs. Reno works for Edge’s mostly powerless security force, struggling to find a place for himself in the world after the Turks are disbanded and move on to their own lives. Lost without the family he’d once found, with only the weight of his sins to sit with him at night.
The tenuous check that the energy barons hold each other in starts to erode in a big way, and Reno finds himself having to work with a reluctant member of Edge’s second most powerful gang, both of them determined to keep the city from descending into hell. Both of them looking for their own versions of redemption. And maybe finding something more for themselves along the way.

This will eventually be AZGCS but first Cloud has to be dramatic and their has to be trauma.

“Zack!” Another familiar voice. Bright red hair barrels towards him from down the hospital hallway (hospital. He’s in a fucking hospital), a young woman following behind, shouting orders to the nurses to stay back. Reno’s eyes widen and he skids to a halt, throwing an arm out to stop the woman from charging onwards. “Shit, he’s got Rude’s gun.”

There are few living things in this world that Aerith would consider useless.
Most living things have a purpose, after all, and it’d feel far too judgemental for her to disregard parts of this world just because she couldn’t “get them”, or simply because the creature was a bit hard to understand.
However, Aerith wryly noted, there are two living things she’d consider useless.Firstly, ticks. Disgusting little bugs, they are, and she couldn’t fathom how the world would be worse off without them. They hold no purpose beyond spreading sickness, biting and infesting every animal it gets in contact with, and she couldn’t even justify their existence by claiming they served an important purpose as prey to another animal or beast, since there were truly no animals who’d ever choose to consume the wretched things.
The second living thing Aerith would consider useless was Zack Fair, resident idiot.
...Or, the unfortunate time Zack Fair fell in love with the new exchange student, if you were to ask Aerith and her beloved kitchen chairs.

But Reno, who, being a Turk, is by far and away the most objectively dangerous person you’ve ever been with, always makes you feel safe and loved.”
Domestic fluff off Reno being the biggest softie with the reader and alcohol making him show it even more. I love the idea of Reno being a loving drunk - I feel like he puts so many walls up to protect himself and love the concept of a few drinks helping them come down even more than usual around his one special person.
Brief but not detailed implied past abusive partners, and Reno both knowingly and unknowingly helping the reader overcome the trauma and ghosts of the past.
