Cloud, after waking up in this life with no memories, vows to take revenge on Shinra and the Templars for the death of his mother, while continuing his father's legacy. As he works to take down the Templars, the past is slowly revealed, and the future of this world seems more uncertain than ever.

Playing in the “big leagues” was a whole other world for Cloud, and it was made easier by one individual — the Captain of the Midgar Currents, Zack Fair. It started with the occasional head tap, which turned into chest taps and side hugs, and then to early morning texts and late night skate sessions. He had told Cloud simply that he was “being a good captain” by looking after the rookies, but Cloud felt like that was just something Zack said to everyone who asked why his eyes, even when answering questions from the media, drifted in the direction of Cloud.

Ruby Liu is a hardcore FF7 fan who also freelances as a programmer. After one fateful night, she is forced to enter the world of her beloved game and finds a new world both familiar yet unfamiliar. Apparently her old fanfics have become Gaia's cancer, brought about by the wrath of an old resident Summon thought lost to time. And to top it all off, she's drawn the ire and intrigue of Sephiroth, who seeks new purpose for the realm lovingly dubbed the Debug Room and even bullies her as a de facto editor in this new story of Gaia.
But the Rulers of the Outer Realms are always watching. Order must be preserved, lest the ancient wars of cataclysm resurge.
(Rewrite of FF7 Original & Remake where game mechanics, sidequest lore, easter eggs, OG concept drafts, and even the game's code may be integrated into the plot. Cloud is the new bassist of Vortex, an up-coming band in the myriad that are competing in the Battle of the Bands. He is blunt & cold to everyone, even his bandmates. In fact, he doesn’t speak much and barely gives anybody attention. But when Full Bloom needs a guitarist real bad ‘cuz one of the members can’t perform, he gets all awkward and clumsy around a certain singer named Aerith.
Yeah, that totally breaks his aloof persona and that’s just what the singer wanted all along.
At times, he’s like a daffodil — sweet, fragile yet resilient at the same time. Ready to embark into something new, clumsily flourishing in her hands as he laughs highly like nobody else ever sees him. In those moments, she wonders why her? What was it about her attitude that made him open up like leaves of yellow daffodils?
Slowly plucking the loose strands of her hair behind her ears and leaning closer with the prudence necessary (if not more than). He expected nothing from her at all and if she had to guess, he would’ve never been disappointed if she rejected him.
But she could never oppose him.

Five years since his departure, Cloud returns to Midgar with little more than dim memories and an empty wallet. He's put to work by Avalanche who is coordinating a bombing on one of Shinra's reactors, but his first independent assignment gives him much more than he had bargained for.

Past life memories can be inconvenient, especially when they’re awakened on accident by meddling gods. Past life memories that give you just enough information to be dangerous to the various bad guys, but not enough to act on that without risking a lot of lives with unknown gains? Inconvenient, stressful, and not great for sleep.
Once, I was Tanya of Earth, a relatively new fan of Final Fantasy 14 after I got introduced to the story by Shadowbringer. Now I’m Tomoyo the Raen, formally of Othard, now of the La Noscea archipelago. And now, I’m the Warrior of Light, best of a bunch of bad options according to the Mothercrystal.
My knowledge is spotty, my axe is sharp, and I’ve got a drive to learn and a new appreciation for all things magic and weird. If only I’d spoiled myself on Endwalker instead of holding off hoping to play it after release.
But hey, I’ve got my own chocobo. That’s got to count for something, right?
