The DeRose family has controlled the Rings for as long as Jaye can remember. During the time of his reign, Tess DeRose has pushed nearly all forms of art and performance to the outmost part of the Rings - the infamous Alleys, a home of vice and expression. Everyone that opposes the family has unfortunate 'accidents' that nobody has attempted to solve, lest they become the new one.
Young detective, Jaye Blakely is obsessed with the DeRoses. He knows everything about them - their habits, their routine, what they ate for lunch six Tuesdays. It is an obsession bordering on insanity (though he would never admit it to be more than 'working a case')
So when Jaye and his friend Lonnie are fired from their jobs, Jaye enlists the help of several eccentric individuals to help bring down the DeRose reign - including Marylin DeRose herself.
