They sit in silence for some time. Armand kneads gently along Lestat’s shoulder and back muscles, content with the task, letting him relax incrementally. He leaves him to the silence, waits for Lestat to fill the space, as he always does. It’s inevitable.

Summary
Lestat is argumentative with the staff, he's giving Daniel absolute Hell, and he's prone to disappearing for hours at a time when he is supposed to be recording or rehearsing. He is self-destructing, a violent nosedive back into his worst behavior, and all of it is being filmed for the world to see.
Or, at least, that is what Louis had heard from Daniel's colorful recounting that he stubbornly beamed straight into his head.
(Or, a bad filming session brings back horrible memories for Lestat. Louis is left to pick up the pieces.)

The music continued as Nicki stood with his back to the window, swaying with his violin, the notes carrying like waves in the ocean through the room right to me. It was all I could focus on, the dark, dark sounds coming out of this instrument I had gifted him, played solely by the boy I once used to love. Still loved. The notes were cutting through my heart in ways I could not yet understand, but it felt heavy, and I felt the desperate need to sob, just like I had on several occasions when he’d played the violin for me back in the Auvergne. They fogged my brain and I couldn’t think of why it was that I didn’t want him to see me. Why was I hiding? The violin was calling me. Come to me. I could just go to him. I could.

A delicious pain. Lestat’s eyes spring open from the sharpness of it, from the tears he has to blink back. Then, by some mistake, he looks out—not at his angel, but at the corner of the stone room before him, where an iron manacle lays on the ground, with thickly dried blood painting it.
In Paris, the past fades into the present.
