Last time he found her out here, he confided in her that sometimes, he has dreams where he would see smoke through the diner window and rush outside to greet her, only to find his ex-wife there in her place, ready to tear him to a million tiny little pieces. Ava pointed out that she was equally as likely to degrade him, and he said that yeah, of course he knew that, but at least he sort of liked her. That’s why she feels so comfortable pressing a few of Caspar’s buttons, shattered as he may be: she knows that he’s there for her, that he knows what he’s in for, and that he likes her. That’s why they’re allowed to play this cat and mouse game of theirs.

Leif recoils the moment their fingers brush his face, jolting in an effort to pull back from them. “Oh, shit, you’re gonna-” he blurts out, but his breath catches in his throat. He swallows hard. “Oh.”
“Make you a little less pretty?” they supply. With the way he’s arranged, when they put their weight onto their other arm and grab him by the jaw, he can’t pull away fast enough without running the risk of injuring himself. They hum, pleased. “Sure am. Perks of the job. What, are you scared?”

Lucky he found this diner out here. Wierd to build a restaurant out in the middle of nowhere but whatever. He needs a break and maybe a place to crash for the night.
Or. Danny joins the crew of Midnight Burger. Nobody wrote this and I really wanted to read a story about my favorite Fandom and my favorite podcast so I had a Thanos moment and decided to do it myself. First attempt so wish me luck. Expect slow updates cause my schedule is wierd and inspiration strikes whenever. ✌️ Also I have no idea if the MB staff have physical descriptions so I'm going with my imagination.

She doesn’t tend to hold onto things, and she isn’t exactly the nostalgic type, but words, even the ones she can’t use, are a particular vice of hers, and she feels no need to break the habit anytime soon. She likes to go through some of them and listen from time to time, just to hear the voices of their senders. They keep her company when she can’t sleep on long flights, or they remind her that she doesn’t need to be lonely, because people out there are thinking of her.
Others, though. Others only see the light of day when she’s a different kind of lonely.

What is it that separates the brain from the mind? And can the others stop laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of it all for long enough to be of any help?
