As Dante is about to take a sip of his whiskey, Lady makes a comment about how Alcohol ruins people's lives and that comment makes him remember what happened in the past. How he gotten happiness in a mute Barista after his brother went to the underworld but lost her after Mallet Island. Dante realizes that if he continues down this path, drinking on a daily basis, then he might lose not only his brother but his nephew as well. So, he decides to stop drinking and not tell anyone.
But Dante forgets one thing about stopping Addiction, he goes through withdraws and it's worse because he's half human.
There will be mentions of child violence and panic attacks.

Resolving to kill Vergil again, he enlists the summoner's help to get back to his own reality and pull his big brother out of the Underworld. Despite some interference from a stubborn DSO agent he totally does not have feelings for, he gets what he needs to raise his twin from Perdition.
The problems start to come when his partner-in-summoning tries to go home and lands in a Plaga-infested region of Spain in 2004.
