After the events of the interrogation room, Akira has been suffering some... physical repercussions, to say the least. He hasn't been able to get through a day without feeling like his head is getting put through the wringer. Futaba suspects that this is more than just some measly everyday headache. She suspects that this has a deeper, more psychological tie to it and she's going to get to the bottom of it, even if it meant breaking the promise she made to her brother.

He must have dozed off for a while because when something in the air shifts he bolts awake. He pushes himself up and looks over to the other two in the room. Morgana’s back is arched and his hair stands on end. Futaba is frozen next to him and Akira follows her gaze to the attic window. Through the frosted panes, he can make out a figure right outside.
The window jostles in its frame. Akira goes for his knife.
It slides open and he can’t help freezing in place. Because it’s Goro Akechi stepping through the open window and slamming it closed. It’s Goro Akechi standing at the foot of the mattress, red eyes ablaze.

Red eyes stared up at him, fear and disgust lingering there together in a show of utter betrayal, as the realization she is bound to be killed by her own flesh and blood once again settles in. Shackled hands shivered ever so slightly, clearly trying their best not to move but unable to contain the small shakes. Was it from fear, adrenaline, or perhaps rage? Goro wasn’t sure he ever was good at figuring out how exactly this woman felt about his mere existence let alone the complex range of emotions she had to be feeling at this exact moment.

The bread roll isn’t just bread. There’s a milky custard in the center that Akira can easily call the best thing to ever grace his mouth as soon as it hits his poor, deprived taste buds. The saturated sweetness paired with the smooth texture of the cream sliding across his tongue makes his body feel as light as a feather, like he’s floating somewhere far away from where he currently is.
“From now on, you’ll take your meals from here. On the floor.”
Akechi’s voice cuts through his satisfaction like a knife, and too soon is he grounded, back on his knees underneath the table, being fed like an animal as he cranes his neck forward for bread and custard.
The switch to Akira's cognitive double doesn't happen.
Akechi takes advantage of his chance in a different way.
