It was easy in those moments to imagine what the warmth of the Sun might feel like upon her synthetic skin; its passion in the weight of her happiest memories in her chest. Time had always been inconsequential then.
That freedom which she had drunk from the feeling of weightlessness tasted differently when it was hands belonging to another that caused it. It was all Penny could remember: the bruising force with which familiar hands had pressed down on her shoulder. The way she had felt them before she heard the voice that was often accompanied by pain in her past. Their warmth, so unlike that of her imagined Sun, a parting gesture as she was pushed from the platform and into the nothingness that awaited her. She hoped to have caught one last glimpse of kind, blue eyes when she had first begun her descent.
