    Ben reaches up towards his own helmet, very slowly. Cody is helpless as he pulls it off, lets it rest in the space between them, and looks Cody dead in the eye for the first time in six years.

    “You said it yourself,” Obi-Wan Kenobi says. “You killed me.”

      this fic is so me-coded that i don't know how to write a bookmarker's rec that's not just entirely self-indulgent and so i shan't even try! this is child-character-writing at its finest; luke and cody's relationship is the emotional heart of the narrative, and what a heart it is! the author is so tender and attentive towards the love and trust they've developed, and i soaked up every trauma-response ritual and parenting technique in this story like i was the thirstiest and most desiccated sponge in the world. the tone takes its turns at being funny and heartfelt and sobering, and the plot hovers at just the right distance above the character work. obi-wan's diction is flawless. rex is there. it just doesn't get better than this.

      in terms of warnings, expect canon typical violence, sometimes towards kids!

    Obi-Wan froze in place the moment he looked up. His eyes observed the large statues one by one.

    Plo Koon, Mace Windu, Kit Fisto– they were all Councillors during the War.

    Obi-Wan stood in front of the statues as tears welled up in his eyes. He hadn’t seen them in a long time and these statues looked exactly like them. From facial features and expression down to the way they were seated– as if they were in a regular Council meeting.

    “Look Uncle Ben! It’s–” Obi-Wan leaped to Luke and covered his mouth before he could say anything else.

    “Yes, I see, it’s General Kenobi.” He hoped the beings whose attention was drawn towards them would move on quickly. “But try not to shout, Luke, alright?”

    His eyes left the boy to observe the statue of himself.

The Jedi, their Mandalorian partners and friends hide in a hole on Coruscant's notorious Level 1313 while a Fascist Galaxy rises above them. They have only one goal: get off Coruscant, stay hidden, keep everyone -- including the Younglings that made it out of the Temple -- alive. Naat Reath, already having faced down a Dark Acolyte of the Sith, lost two Masters, and is now pregnant with a father who fights for the Empire, barely holds it together. On the other side of the Galaxy, Arya Wooy's Master, known across the Outer Rim as "Jedi Bob" searches for his Padawan, in a Galaxy that was once his playground, now turned dark and hostile.
