Summary
It’s November 14th and Steve Harrington, Hawkins resident golden boy, is sitting in his parked car in what is left of the former hotel. He’s not quite sure why he’s here, he would occasionally come out here when he needed to get away. He found solace sitting in this abandoned chunk of land. The first time he had come out here he was 7. Richard Harrington had taken his young son out here to show him what was left of a once great hotel and told him all about the bad business choice.
“This here, Steven, used to be a beautiful hotel back in the 40s’, but they wasted it on this small town. That’s why it’s no longer here, idiots, the whole lot of them.”
It was one of the few times his father would speak to him so freely. Later on, Steve would come to learn that the little family trip wasn’t just a warning for Steve’s potential business failures, but a warning for himself. The Harringtons at the end of the day were more business than family, and Steve was the face of their company while they were away. He was left here in Hawkins while his parents traversed the globe.

After the big battle to get Will back from the twisted, demonic universe deemed "The Upside Down", Nancy Wheeler can't seem to shake her interactions with the alien monster from her mind. There's a part of her that feels connected to it somehow, like it reached out to her during her time there after she travelled through the portal in the trunk of the tree looking for Barb. Part of her is soothed that this thing is dead... but when her ex boyfriend comes running to her in the middle of the night claiming to have seen it again, she can't help but be skeptical. Was this thing really dead? Or had it just gone into hiding?

Robin didn’t know what Nancy saw in Steve, whatsoever. She was gorgeous, smart, stubborn, and surprisingly funny in a dry sort of way. From the few times that she and Nancy hung out with Barb, Robin felt her cheeks heat up under her big blue eyed stare. Her weird little crush never ignited with a flame as hot as Tammy, but it’s always been there, simmering in the background.
They leaned in for a kiss, holding each other’s hands.
“God they’re so—“ Robin started with a sneer.
“Gross, right?!” Munson finished for her.
She turned and saw where Munson was staring out past the fish bowl, his dark eyes locked on the couple, his hands still fidgeting with the dice. He looked… sad, almost.

When Jim Hopper first heard of a girl, about twelve years old, running around with an oversized yellow shirt, he didn't think much of it. Of course, he was dealing with Hurricane Joyce, her missing sweet baby boy, and the shit Hawkins always managed to throw at you. Can you blame him?
He never got to meet her, only when he started setting out traps and snacks in the cold winter, even though the said girl was last seen disintegrating an otherworldly monster and disappearing immediately afterwards. So, he didn’t really know what he was doing. Hopper only heard that the girl liked Eggos—after reading a report from a grocery store and an irate manager—so they were stored in a plastic bag in the middle of the woods. Maybe he just had a habit of looking for presumed dead children.
