Her head lolled over towards Holliday’s neck and took a deep breath. The pretty sheriff smelled good—gunpowder, sweat, and tobacco. Her favorites.
“Uh oh,” she smiled dopily. Her fluffy tail began to wag.
“What?” Holliday’s eyes snapped up, looking for danger. Her free hand was already on her pistol.
“The beast got a whiff of you. And she liiikes it,” Silver said in a sing-song voice. “Time to let her out, ‘m afraid.”
“What? No, no no no, Silver!”

Mina crosses her arms and leans back against the wall, watching silently as Pocket places the cigarette between their lips and rolls their thumb across the flint. With a micro shower of sparks, they light the end and breathe life into this evening’s treat.
“So why did you actually come tonight?” Mina asks. Her tone is scalpel-sharp and equally precise. She aims to separate Pocket from the truth. Pocket can feel themself squirm.
“I wanted to talk to you,” they say earnestly.The vampire squints at Pocket. “Get in line.”

So when she overheard him talking about the ritual, how he's not ready for this one, and how he should be a good student and not do anything that could get his family in hot waters internationally, even if there was a god granting a wish for anything... She knew he was lying, and probably anyone who heard him as well. Luckily for him, No one would rat him out.
Luckily for her.... She could hopefully get some help in preparing for the ritual from him.

He tilted Drifter’s head up, craning his neck at an awkward angle to examine the extent of his bindings. There was something satisfying about having the ancient bound before him, helpless to his own whims. “The marking on your arm allowed me to figure out exactly what had happened, but a stray bullet from my own gun only goes so far. So, against my better judgement, I decided to see what mess you had stumbled into.” Mirage pulled his hand back, allowing Drifter to slump back into a more comfortable position. “Least to say, I am thoroughly entertained by this.”
“You’re what?” Drifter sneered, causing a clot of blood to spatter against the silver. “What’s so entertainin’ to you about a fellow ritualist bein’ held captive? And here I was, thinkin’ that you were gonna play nice.”
