Summary
Izuku and Ochako have been roommates since their second year of medical school, which was five years ago. For the past eight years that Ochako has known Izuku, he's been obsessed with his childhood friend Katsuki, aka Ochako's coworker at the FDNY. But Izuku knows better than to go there with him. The big fire at the New York Academy of Art on 9/11/XX however seems to be the perfect remedy to both Izuku and Katsuki's stubbornness, and Ochako's singleness. With Ochako practically demanding to see through Himiko's recovery-- who was a complete stranger that her and Katsuki had saved in the fire-- Izuku fears for his job, knowing that this would more than likely put it on the line. However seeing his best friend happy is more important than anything to him, so he decides to be her wingman. Ochako takes notice in this and decides that Izuku needs a wingman as well.

Izuku’s quirk is a peculiar one. It’s base abilities are unknown, as it came in with greater power than it should have as a result of his naturally frail body, and nothing like it has ever been seen. Though it does work on humans, it is at it’s most powerful when used on an animal, though he has no say in when it happens.
The main function of Izuku’s quirk is to solidify bonds between Izuku and his pets. When an animal(or human) loves and is loyal to Izuku, his quirk activates, solidifying their bond by connecting their minds, and empowering the animal. It is theorized that the base quirk would have stopped at increasing the base power of the animal and forming a telepathic bond, but due to Izuku’s body being remarkably frail, his quirk evolved upon its first use, ironically not on an animal, to go further than that. Now, on top of the extreme physical boost, animals gain humanoid(anthropromorphic) forms and the mental and social capacity of a human, and humans gain the features and instincts of an animal.
