“What made you Radiant, Kaladin?” Amaram asks. He says the next part softly, almost reverently: “When did you learn how to say the Words? They elude me. But they found you. They sculpt you.”
Kaladin fidgets, uncomfortable under the weight of Amaram’s eyes and his compliments. He keeps his spear flush against the flesh of his armpit, and it’s the only thing keeping him upright. “I learnt the words when it was right. There’s not an easy answer. I was able to say them when I believed in them.”
Kaladin’s traitorous and emberous love for Amaram is a cruel ghost to bear.
