    Jaskier, personification of Death, bemused and a little bit entertained, strums his lute. "You really didn't know this whole time? But I told you when we first met."

    Geralt thought about it and slowly put his hand on his face. "Fuck."

    Geralt has been having the strangest few weeks. First, he acquires a bard from a shitty tavern in Posada who spouts some nonsense at him despite it being clear that he couldn't possibly be the person he was talking about. He's certain he would have remembered meeting him in his relatively long life.

    Second, the bard - Jaskier - doesn't seem like he's leaving any time soon despite Geralt trying to lose him.

    Third, Jaskier keeps looking at him. He keeps touching him. He keeps... He keeps. And it's doing something strange to him. His stomach flips, and he originally thought he was sick, but as time continues to pass, he has to acknowledge the fact that may or may not be acquiring feelings for said bard.

    And that horse. Why was it... green? Given, it's the lightest shade of green, but really?

    No, the problem came up the first time as Geralt was lazily watching TV on the couch, back to their little kitchen where Jaskier had just served her royal highness some very expensive cat food.
    Roach does as she always does when Jaskier is involved, and simply walks out. It’s routine by now, and the food is usually gone by morning. It’s more about Jaskier knowing his place at the bottom of the list than not liking the food.
    But as she returns to the living room with Jaskier trailing after, considering plopping down on the couch too instead of working on his doctoral thesis, Jaskier finds himself fundamentally changed.
    “Hi baby.” Geralt says, voice all sweet and dark and gravelly, and fuck.
    It is very much aimed at Roach, who is being a cutie, begging pets from under the table.
    But Jaskier’s insides do a kickflip, his brain short circuits.
    Flushing deeply, Jaskier can’t control the little HRK sound escaping his throat.

      Una vez, se quedó dormido mientras meditaba y descubrió que le crecían enredaderas de las palmas de las manos que lo conectaban al suelo. No le dolió al liberarse, y cuando las enredaderas se separaron del suelo, también se le cayeron de la piel. Después de eso, tuvo cuidado de no dormir en el suelo desnudo, para no convertirse en un árbol o algo así.

      Tras cumplir ochenta, decidió que su alma gemela no podía ser humana. Al fin y al cabo, ya habían vivido antes que él, y a medida que envejecía, la marca del alma se fortalecía. En los humanos, la vejez hacía que las marcas del alma se desvanecieran. En Geralt, su marca del alma florecía con cada año que pasaba.
