My take on a missing scene from s03e06 after Bertie is struck twice over the head by Roderick Spode.
I also have to confess that returning from the States had unsettled me. There is a certain level of freedom in New York, and without the pressures of class and judgement it is far too easy to indulge in various liberties. However, back in England the idea of sitting by your employer’s side to play the left or indeed righthand part of a new jazz piece, or spending time with him in a diner enjoying a spot of lunch, it was simply unheard of.
Jeeves deal with the panic after he allows Bertie to become seriously injured during one of his schemes.

Summary
Randall Burgess survived the Gallipoli campaign, albeit only just. Roderick Burgess is horrified at the indignity and pain his son has suffered and is willing to do anything to bring him peace, including meddling in powers beyond his understanding. Power corrupts, and when the Magus misses his target, his original aim is twisted and lost as he settles into the self-aggrandising effect of Dream's tools.
Randall is forgotten by the wayside and finds a strange comaraderie with the being locked up beyond his reach. He couldn't imagine they had more in common than simply being trapped, much less anything that could be the key to both of them escaping their respective cages.

1921 Dream's captor hasn't aged a day but his excitement on word of something he's been searching years for is palpable
1922 A letter finds Hob, inviting him to a place he dares not revisit so soon, by son of the man who caused him grief beyond imagining and he declines.
1923 That same letter appears, an apology and invitation to a dinner to express the mistakes of the father is made and Hob decides enough is enough. Sons weren't their fathers and it was time to fix the present.
December 1923 Hob meets his stranger once again
