(Written with the help of a co-author who prefers to remain anonymous. In addition, I'm using this story as a sort of experimental ground, so expect to see some content that wouldn't show up elsewhere in my work in some places)
Grimm do not die unless they are killed. And the older a Grimm gets, the smarter and more powerful it becomes. Combine that with the fact that Menagerie was an empty continent all the way up until the Faunus moved in to settle there...well, the Grimm on Menagerie are old and powerful indeed, and smart enough to decide that violence isn't always the best treatment for the mortals they find. Not when they can have so much more 'fun' with them instead.

Yang has a bit of a reputation for sometimes pushing a little further than she probably should, and Weiss would be wincing if it didn’t seem as if Blake was enjoying this. There’s no real annoyance in her tone, gait light and clear as she argues back and forth, now going for a shove of her own. Actually, she looks—well. Happy to be arguing in the first place.
They’re partners—of course they’re bound to be close—but this suddenly seems different in some way. Weiss thinks, huh.
Yang dodges the counterattack and adds, “Plus, you’d miss me if I stopped.”
She might have won after all. Blake doesn’t seem to have a reply, and they continue on in silence. Weiss catches the barest glimpse of Yang’s smug smile as she turns her head, warm and far too pleased with herself to be healthy. Blake never denies it, and as they continue on, Yang’s smile only grows wider.
Huh, indeed.

The woman tenses beneath her touch, having regained a little bit of consciousness, and Ruby glances over to her, silver eyes meeting with a puzzled, yet disoriented pair of foggy blue. She was still responsive.

After note: Wow! I was not totally sure I would pull it off, but I did! Thirty one consecutive days of writing.
Not every day was of the best quality; I had to cut out ideas and segments, and did not get a chance to proofread all of these chapters before they were posted. Such was the price of getting something posted every day. Overall, I am very happy with what I made, and hope you found it enjoyable!
