"Guess I'm just.. practicing." Keith sighed, resigned. "Y'know, being dead. Corpses can't have rage-induced meltdowns, after all." He tried to sound normal, like his lungs weren't filling with burning smoke and tar, blocking his airways.
Lance bubbled out a laugh, his grimy, bloody, armour-clad figure shaking lightly under the rubble. His eyes- as glazed over and strained as they were- filled with mirth, gazing up at the sky as if it was a picturesque, sunny day on Earth rather than a battlefield, painted red. In some horrifying way, it resembled a graveyard more than anything else, and they were nothing more than two bodies waiting to join the masses.
An ungloved, tanned hand reached out into the space between them, patting the dirt rhythmically, almost comfortingly. "I can't reach your dumb ass from over here so this is gonna have to do." Lance huffed. "You can't die with that awful mullet anyways, so, you're okay." His tapping never slowed or stopped. Keith pretended he could feel the warmth of Lance's touch on his shoulder. "You're okay, Keith."
