AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGFHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh almost incomprehensible at points but like. In a clever arty way. I NEED to reread this tho I high key didn't have any clue what was going on. So incredibly rich prose, incredibly interwoven, the warmth and intimacy of the last scenes, the contrast of dialogue vs narration, the way different themes/motifs get woven together, carried through, and referenced in different ways to build an incredibly complex, rich, and layered meaning to every line, just absolutel incredible, not just one of the best fanfics I ve read but some of the best fiction. I can't believe this is free.

Summary
When the strange goggles attached to the Wizard-created "icono-game" were slammed down in front of Commander Sam Vimes' eyes, he didn't know what to expect. When the frost cleared, the first thing he saw was Sybil murdered and young Sam kidnapped, and because there's no world where Sam Vimes could allow that to stand, he gave chase into a world like no world he'd ever seen, where he knew no one and no one recognized him. He'd have to find new allies to help him deal with dangers that, while new, still felt sickeningly familiar. Because some things never change.
Note: A few individual chapters are explicit, and are clearly marked. The fic as a whole is Mature.
