Summary
Hallownest has been through a lot recently - but it's not over yet. As the Pale King prepares to train his heir, miles beneath the kingdom something awakens. And, sensing this, a group of bugs travel to Hallownest in search of the best high of their lives. And they'll do anything to get it.
The final fight for Hallownest is drawing near, and Ghoncl and his friends will need all the help they can get. Secrets will be uncovered, lore will be discovered, character development will be had, and pot will be smoked. Of course.

The arrival of a giant Wyrm carcass disturbs the many tribes of Hallownest, causing the ground to shake throughout all of the caves. Every bug from the Mantises to the Bees is affected by his arrival. Take a peek behind the curtain into what Hallownest's story was like before the events of the game.
This fic is just an exploration of what I think the story of Hallownest looked like prior to it being founded. I've tried to stay as lore accurate as possible (thank you Mossbag) but if I get something wrong, just know it's impossible to know everything. :)

Ghost wanders through Howling Cliffs and meets a mysterious figure. He froze in shock and disbelief when he caught a glimpse of the their weapon.
Storm of thoughts started to swirl inside Ghost's mind as he tried to catch up to the figure before they could run away.

Canon is my playpen and I have ripped it up. Lots of exploration of death, grief, loss, and also hope and healing. There is no ultimate good nor no ultimate bad. Fundamentally, Dreamless is a search for identity, belonging, and community, in the midst of great grief.
This fic is Radiance sympathetic, but not positive. Most of the gods are not discussed in any particular high regard. A large portion of what happens is the fault of the Pale King, but it's much more complicated than that. For more information, here is the full AU description.
