There. A large teddy bear that the farmer had given him, won from the crane game in the movie theatre not long after it had opened, sat in the corner by his game table. Sebastian stood up and retrieved it from its resting place. It was pretty firm, well-made for a crane game plushie, and its fur was relatively short and didn’t shed. If anyone asked, he could say he was washing it because it got dusty sitting in the corner. Perfect.

Emily’s face flushes bright red, and her browns unknit to shoot up to her hairline.
“Yes” You reply, a little flustered yourself. Why does that matter-
A memory flashes in your mind’s eyes of that rambunctious parrot getting into the drawer you keep the condoms in one night, tossing them up in the air with his beak and squawking happily. Exhausted to your very bones from work, you’d hurriedly peeled them away from him and shoved them back into the drawer with a sleepy vow to inspect them tomorrow.
You’d forgotten by morning, and then a few nights later Emily had blindly plucked one out with the rushed fugue of a wife who’s been desperately horny all night waiting for her spouse to return from the Skull Cavern.
